INTRODUCTION
OVERVIEW
I'm thrilled to share my experience working as the Billtrust Digital Marketing Intern on my portfolio page, so welcome. Throughout my time with the company, I had the opportunity to contribute to various projects and initiatives that enhanced the digital presence and user experience.
One of my primary responsibilities was assisting with content updates, specifically blog posts and resource pages. I became well-versed in the process of creating and publishing engaging content on the website, collaborating closely with the Marketing team to ensure seamless execution.
Additionally, I played a key role in the design aspect of the website 2.0 project. I was entrusted with finding a color palette and illustration inspiration that aligned with Billtrust's brand. With a focus on green as the core color palette, I explored additional colors and sought abstract illustration styles that conveyed a cool tech company vibe without explicitly showcasing the product. Through the creation of moodboards on Miro, I presented various color and illustration approaches to the team, facilitating collaborative discussions and refining the design direction.
Another exciting project involved the Careers page for the website 2.0. With the challenge of showcasing Billtrust as an exciting company to work for despite not having physical offices to display, I researched design inspiration from remote-first tech companies. By examining how these companies effectively appealed to potential employees, I gathered insights and ideas to create an engaging and compelling Careers page that captured the essence of Billtrust.
Lastly, I had the opportunity to apply UX methodologies in researching and prototyping a mockup for a new interactive white paper webpage. Moving away from traditional stationary PDFs, I navigated the UX process to conceptualize and design an engaging and interactive webpage that elevated the user experience and facilitated knowledge sharing.
WEBSITE 2.0 INSPIRATION
I was tasked with finding inspiration for the Billtrust website rebrand. They were looking for new ways to utilize graphics and animation within their website without it being overwhelming, promote working for the company without having physical locations to work at, and ways they could incorporate additional colors into their green-dominate color palette. Using these requirements and my eye for design, I researched hundreds of tech companies' websites and created a Miro mood board I would present to the design team to discuss implementing the new ideas into our website.

BLOG POSTS & WHITE PAPERS
Another responsibility of mine was crafting the white papers and blog posts into WordPress so they were prepared for publishing. This included adding all of the SEO information and using my UI knowledge to properly lay out the pages to be beneficial for the user's experience.
INTERACTIVE WHITE PAPER DESIGN
My capstone project for this internship was to prototype creating interactive white paper webpages from their stationary ones. This included the process of investigating content platforms to host on, exploring interactive elements to include within the webpages, wireframing the white papers, and finally high-fidelity prototyping with design refinement. Through the process of weekly team meetings and bi-weekly one-on-one, I was able to create fully functional prototypes of white papers that met the requirements of my supervisors and the company.
INVESTIGATED CONTENT PLATFORMS
I researched three separate platforms for creating and hosting the webpages on and created pro-con lists based on their features, pricing, and the ability to design within them.
EXPLORED INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS
During this part of the process, I went back through previous white papers and explored how we could upgrade their current elements into interactive ones that encourage users to interact and spend more time within the white papers.

WHAT I LEARNED
NEW PLATFORMS
The first and biggest thing I am thankful I learned during my internship was all the new platforms I got a chance to become familiar with. I was able to add a lot of new skills to my belt and can now proudly say I am "proficient" at working with platforms that I hadn't even heard of before joining Billtrust.
BRAND GUIDELINES
This internship was my first real time having to design within brand guidelines and I'm really thankful I got to experience that because it introduced me to designing in a new way with certain restrictions. I think this skill will benefit me greatly in the future while designing in the workforce.
FLEXIBILITY
I went into this internship unsure exactly what direction I wanted to go in with my major and I was given the ability to explore multiple different jobs and their tasks within the digital marketing team and this allowed me to learn flexibility and time management when it comes to balancing different tasks.
