INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my UX case study, where I had the opportunity to redesign the web presence of Suzanne Collins, the bestselling author of the Hunger Games series. Suzanne recognized the need to revamp her website, particularly the global navigation and visual design, to better showcase the immense popularity of her novels and create a captivating experience for visitors.
With the Hunger Games films appealing to a broader adult audience and addressing themes of protest, power dynamics, and exploitation, Suzanne wanted to spark interest among this demographic while also exploring potential niche audiences. The goal was to align the visual aesthetic of the website with the films, creating a seamless connection and highlighting Suzanne's achievements and book popularity at a glance. Additionally, the redesigned site aimed to streamline the book purchasing process for visitors.
The ask was to design the landing page and product page for the new Suzanne Collins website. On the landing page, we aimed to maintain recognition of awards and honors while presenting testimonials in a more concise manner. Specific product listings were to be included, emphasizing and highlighting the Hunger Games-related novels without excluding other works.
The focus was on providing a seamless and engaging experience for visitors as they navigated between pages and interacted with the website. The redesign aimed to strike a balance between updating the look and feel of the website while preserving the simplicity that Suzanne valued. Each visual change was carefully considered and explained, ensuring that the redesign honored the essence of Suzanne's brand.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Young adult book readers need a more engaging and user-friendly experience that aligns with the look and feel of the Hunger Games films because it will make it easier for users to connect with the brand and explore the author's work while minimizing frustration and abandoned purchases.
